HORRIBLE movie. I'd heard it was a lemon, and couldn't believe, so I watched it. BIG mistake. Turns out, the critics were right. Right up there with Ishtar. OMG, Ishtar, once again, I was warned, and said "it couldn't possibly be that bad". Uh, wrong again, it was THAT bad, and worse. Market Garden wasn't the fault of those that gave their lives in the effort. That's the crime of it.
The troops did their best, and I salute every man who was involved in Market-Garden. Except for Montgomery and his Intel crew.
But this comment space isn't big enough for me to go into details! Suffice it to say, Eisenhower should have given the green light to Patton, instead of trying to appease our British bretheren.
Market-Garden was a great strategy that just didn't work out. Cheers to all those boys though. Angels on our shoulders.
