Does anyone know the difference between the AR flat top and Hunting models? Any experience with either?

Don @quack

the AR model has a taller mount to co-witness the iron sights. I used to have the AR model. One thing that i didn't like was that the dot gets washed out in bright sunlight because it doesn't have a bright enough high setting.

Thanks Don! I already have a cantelever mount for cowitness, so I guess it doesnt matter which I get.

Don @quack

no problem.

I have one of the flat top models on one of my 223s. For a sub $200 red/green dot I am very pleased. The optional magnifier that it comes with is not worth using.

Chris Parker @cparkr80

@harrell is the magnifier not clear or just doesnt do enough to make it worth it? Thank you for the input!

Joseph Harrell @harrell

My magnifier greatly narrows my field of view, almost making it a very low powered scope. It is nothing like the EoTech magnification system. The clarity of the Vortex's magnifier is decent, it just seems to cripple my ability to quickly acquire targets. I have fired around 300 shots with the Strikefire and it has held zero very well. Again, for those of us with limited resources (and wives), it is a good option.

Awesome, thank you!

i really enjoy my strikefire....but will agree the 2x mag REALLY inhibits your view angle....otherwise great site, in over a thousand rounds only re-ajdusteded (is that a word?) once. great for 150 yds. or less

btw..have the flat-top...IMO its the better option
