I've never used this particular light ,but Streamlight makes a great product. For $30, its worth the risk. Also check out Olight. I have their 500 lumen model mounted on my M4 and its BRIGHT!!
I like my polyTac but its not really meant as a weapon light its more of a General purpose light. I would move up to something that was much brighter or atleast more focused so that it got light further down range with the intensity needed to spot targets at 100 yards or so.
@cparkr80 "The G2X is activated by our classic tactical tailcap switch--press for momentary-on, twist for constant-on." -Straight from the Surefire site! The Tactical version has the tactical tailcap.

I have used one as a hand held, never on an AR-15. I think it is a great light.
Just picked one up as my 3rd back up in a Go-Bag. I have a G2X Tactical mounted to my AR with a Viking Tactics mount, work's flawlessly!
@mattkramer02 is the button on the G2X a temporary on or does it work as a permanent on when pressed? (if that makes any sense)

Thanks Matt. I am looking for one that has the tailcap on/off since that is how my rifle is set up
