My 4 year old baby niece knows the difference between a M1911 and a Glock. That is just sad... good journalism from major cities is out the window and now it's all just about agenda pushing. 99% of the NY Times target audience will read straight through that article, nod their heads in agreement, and never notice the glaring flaws.
Yes, the article is accurate. All semi-automatic handguns are Glocks to the media, and pretty much any rifle is an "assault rifle." A term I can't stand. However, the person that wrote the article might want to do some better error proofing if they want to be taken seriously. Right off the bat they used the plural of shoe instead of shows. You're not going to get any respect with errors like that.
