I believe he was the legal owner of these firearms, however he commited a horrible act, and the rest of us who legally own guns should Not have to forfeit our rights due to the criminal actions of one person. The media has been bashing us all due to this incident and we must stand together to protect our rights.
He was a legal gun owner. This is an issue that needs to be tread on very lightly. It is very likely that we'll see fallout that adds additional hoops to jump through to purchase guns.
The thing I read (main stream media) peg it as a setup? The question they are using is "How can a broke medical student afford 20k in guns and tactical gear?"
Something is definitely off somewhere. I've heard the 20k number tossed around a lot, but where did it come from? Based on current information, this guy gave no warning signs. The police are staying very tight lipped about his motives and seem to be wanting to blow his apartment up, because the booby traps are to dangerous to disarm. Something is not right about this entire situation.
The one thing that bothers me is when they talked with his mother, as soon as she woke up and heard the news, she knew it was him. Obviously there were some warning signs somewhere. If she was afraid he might do something, why didn't she say something to someone?
I'm not sure I can buy into the theories about this being a setup. I just know that there will be some fallout, like Paul mentioned, that will end up affecting all of use. Interesting thing is right now in Colorado gun sales have skyrocketed since the event. People are waking up to the fact that we carry the burden of self protection also and must be prepared.
Was the shooter not a legal gun owner?
